Balance

Why is Balance Important?

Are you concerned your balance is off? It may come from an old ankle-injury that did not heal so well. It can also come after a knee or hip injury or surgery. The balance system help us to move with ease and in control and our muscles help us to stay in position.

When we sprain and injure our joints, we also injure our balance nerves in the area, so in order for them to heal, we need balance-exercises. We need to stress these balance nerves after an injury just as we need to activate muscles and joints after an injury.

Also, as we get older, we usually stop doing the things we did as kids; balancing on the edge of side-walks, jumping on one foot, playing on climbing gyms and so on. When we stop this, our balance weakens. This is not something we usually notice until much later, even decades later, but this is also something we can improve.
